A pair of white Vans has always been as synonymous with laidback style as jeans and a T-shirt, but there’s a new contender to the casual sneaker throne. Meet lululemon’s new Cityverse Sneaker, a new men’s shoe that combines the comfort of lululemon’s sweatpants and athleisure wear with the versatility of a go-to pair of kicks.

Made from an eco-friendly vegan leather along with a foam-like material, the Cityverse Men’s Sneaker offers the same clean silhouette as a pair of Vans, in a fresh and lightweight package.
In terms of styling, we’re partial to the white on white colorway offered at lululemon.com, though the sneakers come in a navy color, and a handsome grey colorway with contrast brown/tan sole. Its slightly higher rise sits somewhere between Vans’ Old Skool silhouette and the VEJA Campo sneakers. Like both of the aforementioned pairs, the Cityverse is a lace-up style.
So how do the new lululemon sneakers stack up to the competition? In our testing, we found the lululemon sneakers to be way lighter on our feet than Vans, and they were more breathable too. Our feet were less sweaty after a day of walking in the Cityverse kicks than they were in Vans. Comfort-wise, Vans offered more stability, but the cushioning on the lululemon shoes are unmatched. A final point for lululemon: the site is currently offering a 30-day free trial for customers to test out the new kicks. If you don’t like them, you can send them back for a full refund (lightly worn shoes will be resold on the “Like New” section on lululemon.com).
