Losing steam on your resolutions? Bravo's Andy Cohen has advice on how to save them

The TV celebrity and dad of two credits services like Walmart+ with helping him stick to his goals in 2024.

Andy Cohen knows a thing or two about New Year's resolutions. He is, after all, the king of New Year's Eve — he's hosted CNN's annual celebration with pal Anderson Cooper for the last seven years. ("What we have is a real connection and friendship. You can't manufacture that. It gets stronger every year," Cohen said.)

Like the rest of us, though, he often gets sidetracked from his resolutions a few weeks into the year. Between hosting Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and Real Housewives, the busy dad of two (son Ben is 5, and daughter Lucy is 19 months) has to work hard to make sure he sticks to his goals. We caught up with the New York celebrity to find out how he does it.

1. Monitor your progress.

Nearly 80% of people fail to keep their New Year's resolutions by February — and only 8% stick with them the entire year. "I fall in line with the rest of America. I start losing it sometime in January," Cohen said. "But, there are ones I’ve kept. It’s really good to set a goal and move towards it."

Use a journal to record your accomplishments (and struggles) to help stay focused. This bestseller has 240 lined pages and is made from recycled water bottles.

2. Stay realistic.

Since becoming a parent, Cohen's resolutions have changed. "This year, my goals are to spend less time on my phone and to have more patience on family road trips. I'm the guy who almost threw a car seat in the street because I couldn't figure it out. It's hard!" He added: "Oh, and also to cut back on drinking!"

Instead of scrolling through Instagram or watching TV before bed, put down your phone and zone out to some nature sounds — choose from rain, ocean and more. You're more likely to wake up feeling relaxed and ready for your day.

3. Look for tools to help.

"Walmart+ is all about saving your resolutions — there are lots of benefits," Cohen said. "Walmart is one of those places that has everything you need and you don’t realize it. You can even get discounted fuel. There are so many tools that come along with it." If your goal is to eat healthier — another of Cohen's for 2024 — free grocery delivery from Walmart+ is a lifesaver. Yes, it will also save you time, but it will keep you fromwandering the aisles aimlessly, adding stuff to your cart that you don’t need.

Get early access to major sales, member-exclusive deals, free shipping, free delivery from your local store and so much more — along with a $50 Walmart Cash signup bonus for new members only. This deal is only available for a limited time, so don't delay!

4. Schedule time for your resolutions.

"Put your resolutions into your calendar like it's an appointment," Cohen said. If exercising is on your goal list, for example, plan time for it — "look at the week ahead on a Friday and schedule it whether you're training at home or going to the gym." You can do the same thing if your goal is to travel more or spend extra time with the family.

This stylish wearable easily pairs with your iPhone so you can check your calendar (and those goals, of course) when you're on the go. It also tracks your workouts and calories burned and can provide personalized insights into your activity if you sign up for Apple Fitness+.

5. Be mindful.

If saving money is on your 2024 resolution list, you're not alone. According to a Bankrate study, nearly 90% of Americans have a money goal for this year. "I'm a thrifty guy. There's a difference between being thrifty and cheap," Cohen said. "Having an awareness of money and putting a value on it is key. I don't care how rich you are — it's called being smart." For example, instead of stopping at Starbucks every morning on your way to work, try brewing coffee at home. "You can get to work and already have spent $30 on a cab and cup of coffee," Cohen said. "Be mindful of what you're spending money on — it's never been easier to spend money. I brought my own tea bags to Florida instead of buying — money is money."

Just think of how much you'll save if you don't have to shell out every morning at a coffee shop anymore. The Duo gives you the flexibility to make one cup or a whole pot.
