A Look Inside the Golden Girls Home That Just Sold for $1 Million Over Asking Price
The house used as the facade for The Golden Girls home at the fictitious 6151 Richmond Street in Miami sold earlier this week for $4 million—more than $1 million over asking price. A nine-person bidding war ensued a few weeks after the home went on the market in Los Angeles's sought-after Brentwood neighborhood, and the buyer wishes to remain anonymous. It's also rumored they are not a fan of the show. However, we understand why they put up a fight to get this iconic home.
While it doesn't look like much on the outside, this nearly 3,000-square-foot home is full of glorious natural light, enviable green space, original oak floors, and a fabulous patio. The custom home was built in 1955 by Hawaiian architects Johnson & Perkins, and it has been carefully preserved as a midcentury masterpiece with Southern California flair.
While this home certainly has its fair share of eclectic elements (hello, avocado-colored kitchen!), we're sure it'll make the perfect home for its new owners. Many of its features, such as the versatile floor plan, maximized indoor-outdoor living space, and a private backyard, are only becoming more and more valuable in light of living through a pandemic.
