This Little Girl Is All of Us in Her Before and After First-Day-of-School Photos
We've all had days where no matter how good we look or feel when we leave the house, the trials and tribulations of life will make us completely disheveled by the time we're ready to head back home. And according to these now-viral before and after first-day-of-school photos, nobody knows that better than 5-year-old Franky Meyer.
Yesterday, Reddit user and mother Kelly O'Brien took to Imgur to post her daughter Franky's back-to-school photos from last year. The "before" photo shows her daughter looking totally and ready to take on the day: Franky left for her first day of preschool with her hair curled and pulled back with a pretty bow, her outfit on point (just look at that sparkly skirt and little denim jacket!) and an enthusiastic smile on her face.
The end of the day, however, was a different story: She stepped off the school bus just hours later with her hair bow and denim jacket missing, her skirt disheveled and a look of incredible distress on her face.
And we totally get it — the work day (er, school day) struggle is so real.
Thankfully, though, in an interview with Buzzfeed, O'Brien clarified that Franky's hair bow and jacket weren't missing, but instead were just tucked away in her backpack. She also clarified that Franky actually did have a pretty darn good first day of school, despite how distressed she might have appeared in her end-of-day photo: "She was actually happy getting off the bus," O'Brien explained. "The camera just happened to catch her face in the perfect expression, and I've been laughing about it for the last year ... She absolutely loved school, and that day she was really excited to tell us what she did and about the friends she made."
O'Brien told Buzzfeed Franky will start kindergarten on Tuesday after the long Labor Day weekend, and she's excited to see her old friends and meet new ones. Here's to hoping that we can get back on track Tuesday with as much enthusiasm as "before" photo Franky — even if we feel like "after" photo Franky.
