Letter to the editor: Resident will miss friendly Historic Ridgewood neighborhood

Soon, I will be leaving a city that has been my home for 88 years, but more importantly, the Historic Ridgewood neighborhood that I have lived in for the past 52 years. It is well known for its brick streets, old-fashioned lamp posts and unique variety of homes.

But I particularly want to commend the board of the optional homeowners association who have always done a fabulous job of keeping the neighborhood beautiful, safe and full of ongoing activities for young and old. The board is always coming up with new ideas, such as the almost monthly Wine with Neighbors (instead of whining about your neighbors), the annual Art Show that attracts hundreds, the annual Attic Sales, the summer family picnic, the neighborhood Halloween party, the Christmas sleigh rides, the community concerts at Malone University, the Little Library stations, the welcome new neighbors packets, the beautifully produced monthly newsletter, etc.

I will miss seeing the small kids in strollers and the big kids on bikes on their way to the new fabulous playground at nearby Weis Park, and the many dog walkers doing their daily strolls. (There is even a poop station for dogs that one neighbor put up.)

Along with all my other Canton friends still here, I am really going to miss all the fun times and good people in Ridgewood.
