A Lesson in Minimalist Dressing from Blogger (and Fashion Crush) Camille Styles
Lifestyle blogger Camille Styles certainly has a knack for curating delicious recipes, gorgeous decor and fun entertaining ideas. But it's her personal style that subtly steals the show. Once wardrobe-organizing site Finery gave us a sneak peek into Styles’s whip-smart wardrobe, we discovered her penchant for sleek, minimalist pieces and wondered how she translated them into everyday outfits. Here’s how she masters the art of simplistic chic.

Look For Interesting Silhouettes
A white shift dress is the definition of minimalist. But a white shift dress with dolman sleeves and a pleated waist is far more intriguing. Unexpected cuts are a surefire way to prevent a simple outfit from becoming boring.
Get Everything Tailored
Because your pieces are uncomplicated by nature, the fit becomes even more important. Hemming pants to the perfect length or fixing a gap in the waist of your jeans isn't as difficult or as expensive as you think. And slight adjustments let your figure, not the clothes, do the talking.
Stick With Solid Colors
Embracing minimalist style doesn’t have to mean abandoning colors outside the neutral zone. Black, white and beige will always look sophisticated, but rich gemstone shades like ruby, emerald and marigold are just as chic—if not even more striking.
But If You Want to Try Prints, Go With Stripes
There’s a reason this pattern is a French-girl staple. Stripes are one of the easiest prints to wear, either alone or with other prints like florals. Experiment all you like; you basically can't go wrong, as long as the stripes are thin and delicate, as opposed to wide and loud.
Choose Accessories With Texture
Monochromatic looks require a bit more finesse than most people think. The key to pulling off, say, head-to-toe black is to vary your fabrics and embellishments. Textures give your outfit the depth that only a truly chic dresser would know to incorporate. Luckily you've got Styles (and us) to give you these pointers.
