Leslie Jordan's Cause of Death Revealed Three Months After Death
The beloved actor and comedian died following a car crash at age 67.
Almost three months after his shocking death, Leslie Jordan's official cause of death has been released by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
The beloved actor and comedian died Oct. 23, 2022, following a car crash in Los Angeles. He was 67.
At the time of his death, TMZ reported that the comedian likely suffered a medical emergency, causing him to crash his car into the side of a building.
We now know his official cause of death: "sudden cardiac dysfunction," according to a report released by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
The report further indicates a secondary cause of the actor's death as "arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease," a common condition often indicated by a buildup of cholesterol plaque in the walls of arteries causing obstruction of blood flow.
Although Jordan had battled alcoholism earlier in his life, he had been sober more than two decades at the time of his death. Reports indicate there was no sign of drugs or alcohol in his system.
In a statement released shortly after the accident, Jordan's agent David Shaul wrote (via Variety): "The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner, and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”
Jordan's acting career kicked off in 1988 when he appeared in the Richard Pryor comedy Moving before landing a role in the horror spoof Frankenstein General Hospital and, eventually, The People Next Door. He is best known for his TV work in The Cool Kids, American Horror Story, Boston Legal, Con Man, Will and Grace and Hearts Afire, to name a few.
Jordan was outspoken and proud of his identity as a gay man and was also an icon and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.
