Leonardo DiCaprio Raps '90s Hip-Hop Hit at 49th Birthday
It's hard to believe Leonardo DiCaprio is pushing 50, especially since he was first introduced to audiences as a teenager decades ago. DiCaprio rose to prominence in the 1990s at the same time hip-hop was becoming a major part of American culture. At his 49th birthday party over the weekend, DiCaprio showed his appreciation for that era of music in front of all the attendees.
Video from TMZ shows the Killers of the Flower Moon star rapping along to Gang Starr and Nice & Smooth's hit song "DWYCK" released in 1992. The partygoers were entertained, to say the least, to see the Academy Award winner loosening up and having fun on the mic.
DiCaprio's birthday parties have become somewhat of a staple in the celebrity world as big-name star show up and show out for the actor's big day. His 49th celebration was no different, with attendees including Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Snoop Dogg, Casey Affleck, Kate Beckinsale, Zoe Salda?a, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Rita Ora, Taika Waititi, Beck, and Chris Rock. Also reportedly in attendance was 25-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, to whom DiCaprio has been romantically linked for several months now.
In a way, it was a fitting choice for DiCaprio to pay tribute to old-school hip-hop at his party. The genre itself celebrated its 50th birthday in 2023, and the milestone has been celebrated throughout the year by many prominent figures in the music industry. Though it still remains to be seen if DiCaprio himself launches a career as a rapper.
