Ever since Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik were announced as the official co-hosts of Jeopardy!, fans of the quiz show tuned in to watch the duo stand at their designated podiums for various tournaments. While Ken famously hosted Jeopardy! Masters and the original iteration of the franchise, Mayim went in a more star-studded direction to host Celebrity Jeopardy! and other buzz-worthy moments.
But when the 40th season started airing new episodes in mid-September, folks were surprised to learn that Ken would be the sole host for both Jeopardy! and the upcoming Celebrity Jeopardy! season 2. While viewers were ecstatic to see the series back on TV amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it did leave some to wonder where Mayim was and if she'll ever return to the long-standing franchise.
While her status on the current era of Jeopardy! is relatively clear, we may have a clue about her future on television.
Where is Mayim Bialik on Jeopardy!?
Presently, Mayim won't be on any iteration of Jeopardy! for the foreseeable future.
Fans may remember that back in May, The Big Bang Theory alum stepped back from filming the final week of Jeopardy! season 39 to support the writers that went on strike with the WGA earlier that month. That meant Ken took over for the final weeks, leaving her future with the show up in the air.
What's more, TVInsider reported in August that when Jeopardy! went into production for season 40 in early August, Mayim was nowhere to be found. This was likely due to participating in the SAG-AFTRA strike, which began a month before in mid-July.
Despite the WGA tentatively accepting a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on September 25, Decider wrote in August that it's likely fans won't see Mayim on Jeopardy! through the end of 2023. As for whether the Blossom alum's absence continues after the new year, folks will have to wait and see whether SAG-AFTRA can craft their own contract with AMPTP for Mayim to reappear on television.
