What We Know About "The Big Bang Theory" Finale

The season finale of The Big Bang Theory is set to wrap up with a big moment, and some even bigger guest stars (get it?). Showrunners recently revealed some fun details about the finale, and discussed the possibility of a crossover between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory.

The 11th season will air on Thursday, May 10 at 8 p.m. on CBS. Here's what we know so far:

There will definitely be a wedding.

After Sheldon proposed in the season premiere (which he only did after getting Stephen Hawking's blessing, of course), he and Amy are set to tie the knot, showrunners confirmed.

Sheldon and Amy have their wedding outfits ready.

Entertainment Weekly got an exclusive look at Amy and Sheldon's wedding outfits, and they are surprisingly traditional!

But not completely traditional. This tweet from Mayim shows that Sheldon is letting his geek flag fly with superhero socks featuring the Flash.

She also shared a cute selfie of herself and Jim Parsons, where she appears to be wearing a tiara.

The "#ItsaTiara" is probably a callback to a cute scene in season 5, where Sheldon buys Amy a gift to make up after a disagreement and she reacts in the most adorable way:

Mayim Bialik didn't really enjoy choosing Amy's wedding dress.

The actress shared a personal video where she confessed that choosing a wedding dress for her character was difficult.

"I don't know if that's in my life's journey to be in a wedding dress again, so I don't know; it's just hard ... it's hard," she said in the video, referencing her marriage which ended in 2012.

Kathy Bates and magician Teller will guest star as Amy's parents.

Though Sheldon's family has appeared in previous episodes, we don't know much about Amy's family. That's about to change in the season finale when we meet her parents, who will be played by Kathy Bates and Teller (of Penn and Teller fame).

"Bates replaces Annie O’Donnell, who briefly appeared as Amy’s mother via video chat during season 9. Amy’s mother has been described as overbearing and overprotective. Amy’s father has not yet appeared on the series," reports Entertainment Weekly.

Mark Hamill will also guest star.

Entertainment Weekly also reported that Star Wars actor Mark Hamill will be guest starring in the season finale.

There are no details yet about exactly what role he'll play, but we think it's likely that Hamill will be appearing as himself. His Star Wars costars Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones guest-starred as themselves back in season 7.

Laurie Metcalf is back as Sheldon's mother.

Of course Sheldon's mother wouldn't miss his wedding! The executive producers confirmed that Laurie Metcalf will take a quick break from Roseanne and return to her role as Mary Cooper for the season finale.

Jerry O’Connell will guest star as Sheldon’s older brother Georgie.

Executive producers also announced that Jerry O'Connell, who recently played Superman in the latest Justice League films, will be a guest star in the finale. He'll play Sheldon's older brother Georgie, whom Sheldon has occasionally mentioned, but viewers have never seen - at least not on BBT.

However, Georgie is a main character on the spinoff show Young Sheldon. He is played by 15-year-old actor Montana Jordan, and his character arcs often revolve around him causing trouble and feeling jealous of his genius little brother.

Courtney Henggeler will also return to the season finale as Missy Cooper, Sheldon's "contentious" twin sister.

Sheldon and Amy's wedding will probably be (somewhat) traditional.

Showrunners haven't revealed any concrete details about the wedding itself, but dedicated viewers remember when Sheldon and Amy almost got hitched in a quick City Hall ceremony earlier this season. Right as they're about to take the plunge, Sheldon hesitates and tells Amy he wants a real wedding and a special first dance with her.

We're sure that their wedding will have some unique elements to it, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

There probably won't be a Young Sheldon/The Big Bang Theory crossover in this episode, but it could be a future possibility.

Showrunner Steve Holland addressed questions about a potential season finale crossover in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"Certainly I don’t know if [a crossover] will be specifically that moment, but I think [the plan is] to let the two shows play together," Holland said. "But moving forward, I think there's certainly things we could do between the two shows where you could see something on The Big Bang Theory that's referenced and see actually how it played out in the past [on Young Sheldon]."
