Kitten Yoga event offers exercise, chance to adopt a cat in Northeast Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – When you get an opportunity to “paws” and relax, you take it. And that’s just what KOIN 6 News did when offered a chance to experience Kitten Yoga.
The event was held at the Northeast Community Center in Portland on Saturday, giving attendees a chance to exercise with some relaxing stretches while surrounded by cute kittens meandering around the floor area.

The event was sponsored by Multnomah County Animal Services, meaning all 21 of the participating kittens there were also available for $10 adoption. These kittens ranged from six to 10 weeks old and met national model criteria.
“Together with more than 100 kitten foster program volunteers, we work together to match healthy, well-socialized kittens with loving families,” said Enid Traisman, a longtime volunteer with MCAS who partnered with yoga instructor Tina Olivia to organize the event.
Event planners say they hope to offer more of these opportunities in the future.
