King T’Challa Shows His Vulnerable Side in New ‘Black Panther’ Deleted Scene
Black Panther captivated audiences with its kick-ass Dora Milaje, high-speed car chases and star-studded cast. Now, the hit film is doing a Christina Aguilera and stripping off its war paint to show its vulnerable side.
In a just-released deleted scene, King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) opens up to Zuri (Forest Whitaker) about the death of his father, T’Chaka (John Kani), and—heads up— you’re gonna need some tissues.
In the surprisingly raw clip, the men reminisce about the late king’s legacy and reflect on the emotional weight of ruling and growing old. Anyone who has lost a parent will definitely relate, royal or not.
The Black Panther DVD drops on Tuesday, May 15, and features more deleted scenes and a gag reel.
Here’s hoping King T’Challa will tap into his emotional side even more in Black Panther 2. Cue the countdown until it’s socially appropriate to yell “Wakanda forever!” in a movie theater again.
