Kim Kardashian Shares Details About Her Upcoming True Crime Podcast ’The System’
Kim Kardashian has taken her interest in the criminal justice system to another level with her upcoming true crime Spotify podcast, The System.
The 41-year-old aspiring lawyer, who signed a podcast deal with the streaming platform in 2020, has now revealed details about the upcoming series, which she'll be hosting.
Kardashian, who last December shared that she had finally passed the 'baby bar' law exam after three failed attempts, told Interview magazine: 'The first season is about a really crazy case where a guy got the death sentence for a triple homicide that happened in Ohio.'
Though she didn't give too much away, including the details of the case or when the series is due for release, she shared: 'There are so many twists and turns with how it was handled—or mishandled—and we take the listener along for a journey in search of the truth.'
The mum-of-four, who not only passed the baby bar but received a 'near-perfect' score, as documented in episode six of The Kardashians, also noted she's halfway through her law studies.
Tying in with her passion for criminal justice reform, she continues to be motivated by the stories of women who were given lengthy prison sentences for 'low-level drug offences'.
Kardashian explained: 'Their stories were all very similar. They all committed a crime for their boyfriend, or for their husband.
'I mean, I probably did some dumb s--t at some point and I was maybe just a few decisions off of being in a similar situation, any of us could be.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians alumni explained hearing the experiences of these women propelled her to actively make a stand.
As well as studying for her degree, the SKIMS founder and socialite used her platform to spotlight some of the women's experiences on social media.
She said: 'Once I saw how broken the system is, I couldn't stop.
'I have to help as many people as I can. These people are thrown away and put in prison and no one cares. It's so heartbreaking.'
When episode six of The Kardashians aired, footage showed Kim finding out she helped secure mercy for Julius Jones, who was convicted of a 1999 murder and spent 20 years on death row, before his execution was called off.
In addition, it showed the emotional moment the reality star-turned businesswoman passed the baby bar exam.
Kardashian was dining with her kids at Red Lobster at the time when her assistant said results were ready and available to access via her phone.
After a group prayer with her kids and Tracy Romulus in the car, where she went to avoid being upset in public if she failed, Kardashian explained: 'You are only allowed to take the baby bar a certain amount of times. This was the last time I could ever take it, so if I don't, this law school journey is over for me'.
Romulus later exclaimed: 'You passed!' and teary-eyed Kardashian enthused: 'I'm so happy. Like I literally didn't think I did.'
In disbelief, she asked Romulus: 'Are you sure that said I passed?' after asking her to double check the result.
Referring to her eldest child, daughter North West, Kardashian added: 'I am so happy North is here to see this because my kids know that I've taken time away from them to study.'
She was later heard gushing: 'Everyone told me this was the impossible way and there was no way I would ever pass this test, and I did.'
