Kim Kardashian finally embraces feminism — but at a cost (literally)

Kim Kardashian is finally a feminist! If her body-loving Instagram posts weren’t proof enough, the 37-year-old reality star just released a new Women’s Empowerment Kimoji expansion pack.

The pack contains seven pink and red feminist sayings and, in true Kim K. fashion, they throw a little shade. One is a “Grab America Back” sign and then there are two “nasty woman” Kimojis, a term which became synonymous with Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

Kardashian’s feminist fans are taking her new Kimoji’s as her coming out moment – and they’re thrilled. Last year, the reality star refused to call herself a feminist. “I said once before that I’m not really a feminist, but I feel I do a lot more than people that claim that they’re feminist,” she told Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. “To clarify what I said before: I feel in my soul I’m a feminist. I just don’t need labels to make me feel or know what I am inside.”

Well, Kardashian’s feminist label has arrived — and you can buy it for $2.99.

While the overall message behind Kim’s Women’s Empowerment Kimoji’s is inspiring, some fans couldn’t help but notice how the mother of three is only willing to bare this label now that it’s profitable to her.

And some people are arguing that Kardashian is sending mixed messages with her feminist Kimojis. After all, they’re in the same app that contains her bare butt cheeks sliding down a stripper pole.

To her credit however, Kardashian has often defended her body as a form of feminism. When this naked Instagram photo went viral in 2016, Kardashian was harshly criticized for showing off her body, though she was covered by two black bars. She responded by posing unclothed again, this time with Emily Ratajkowski, middle fingers raised high. On her website she wrote, “I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.”

Unsurprisingly, the black bars photo made its way into the feminist Kimoji pack with “my body, my choice” written on them.

You may not agree with Kardashian’s version of feminism, or that she’s only willing to reveal her stance on the issue now, but you can’t argue with the overwhelmingly good response her Kimoji’s are receiving.
