Kim Kardashian to Meet With Jared Kushner & Trump
Kim Kardashian will take on another reality TV star Wednesday as she goes to the White House for a meeting with President Trump. Last year, Kardashian came upon a Mic video about a 62-year-old great-grandmother named Alice Johnson, who's serving a life sentence without parole for a first time non-violent drug offense, and is now hoping to get Trump to pardon her.
According to Vanity Fair, Kardashian and her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, will first meet with senior adviser Jared Kushner to discuss prison reform, something Kushner has been pushing for within Washington. He was a supporter of the bipartisan bill called the First Step Act, which works to prepare inmates to re-enter society; the House has since passed the First Step Act in a 360-59 vote.
Kardashian will then meet with Trump to discuss Johnson's case. Trump would need to grant Johnson clemency in order for him to be released. (Kardashian reportedly first reached out to Ivanka Trump after hearing about Johnson and has been talking with Jared for months.) In an interview earlier this month, Kardashian told Mic, "Where I’m at in my life right now, to go and spend my money buying material things just doesn’t satisfy me the way that it used to. To save someone’s life and do that once a year, then that would make [my] heart fuller."
Kardashian, who also attended the March For Our Lives rally earlier this year, will reportedly not bring cameras or a publicist to the White House.
