Kevin Costner's Wife Files for Divorce After 18 Years
Kevin Costner and his longtime wife Christine Costner, née Baumgartner, are calling it quits on their nearly two-decades-long marriage.
TMZ reported the news on Tuesday, May 2, revealing that Christine, 49, filed divorce papers that cite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
A rep for the Yellowstone star confirmed the news in a statement made on Tuesday, telling the outlet, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action."
The statement continued, "We ask that his, Christine's and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."
Kevin and Christine—who first tied the knot in 2004—share three children together: Cayden Wyatt, 15, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 12.
The Dances with Wolves alum also shares three adult children: Annie, 39, Lily, 36 and Joe, 35, with his first wife, Cindy Silva, as well as 26-year-old son Liam with former partner Bridget Rooney.
According to the report, the designer is asking for joint custody of their shared children and is not seeking spousal support.
Costner filed his response via his lawyer, "disso queen" Laura Wasser on Tuesday, also requesting joint custody of the kids.
In terms of spousal support, the Oscar winner's response stated, "Spousal support to be payable to petitioner pursuant to the terms of the parties' Premarital Agreement," per TMZ, which means the estranged spouses have a prenup in place.
Fans on Twitter are already reacting to the news, wondering if Kevin's relationship status has something to do with the reports of a delay for Yellowstone Season 5.
"Guess it's back to the Dutton Ranch for him," as one Twitter user put it.
