Kelly Clarkson Teases New Breakup Song With Poignant Lyrics
Babe, wake up—new Kelly Clarkson music is coming.
Following her viral cover of Gayle's "abcdefu," in which she pointedly shaded her ex-husband, Kelly Clarkson is teasing a new breakup song of her own.
The talk show host is well-known for her flawless vocals and powerful performances, but it's been a while since fans got to experience a new round of her poignant lyricism.
Now, in a new video teaser taken in the studio, uploaded to Twitter in an all-telling black and white filter, the "Stronger" singer is giving fans a taste of what's to come with a sneak peek of her next single, coming a little later this month.
"'mine' out 4/14," she wrote alongside the clip, adding, "pre-save now ??????"
The brief video was taken from the other side of the microphone, capturing just one line from what sounds like both a savage and heart-wrenching song: "Someone's gonna show you how a heart can be used, like you did mine."
Fans essentially had a collective meltdown over the news, flooding the thread with their excitement.
"EVERYONE WAKE UP KELLY CLARKSON IS COMING TO SLAY ONCE AGAIN," one scream-wrote, while another agreed, "I have no words just screams. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"
"The Queen of breakup anthems is back," said another.
"This album is gonna have me in bed depressed and crying and I can’t wait," one tweet celebrated.
Others specifically called out how the track sounds, so far, like it could have fit on Clarkson's third studio album, My December.
"I have chills! It’s giving my December and I am screaming in my kitchen!!!" said one.
"I know everyone has been saying it, but if this album has My December vibes I'm 100% in," another wrote, adding, "Man I loved so many songs on that album."
Luckily, we don't have terribly long to wait to find out. You can pre-save "Mine," out on April 14, now.
