Katy Perry Just Split Her Pants on "American Idol"

Since pretty much episode one of American Idol, it seems like Katy Perry has been at the center of all sorts of drama on the show. But her huge wardrobe malfunction on Monday night's episode might just be her most talked-about moment on Idol yet.

Just a few seconds after contestant Maddie Poppe finished her collaborative performance with Colbie Caillat of the song "Bubbly," Katy suddenly burst into laughter and announced to the world that her pants had ripped.

To make matters even more crazy, she promptly got up from her seat to turn around and show the audience what had happened. Lionel Richie quickly got up to cover her backside before jokingly shouting "save the children!"

At first, some fans thought the whole thing might've been a staged stunt. But lo and behold, the official American Idol Twitter page was quick to shut down those theories and confirmed that yes, indeed, Katy really did rip her pants on national television.

Of course, the singer embraced the moment and handled it like the total pro that she is. As a result, most viewers were quick to praise her.
