Katie Couric is officially going to be a grandmother!
The journalist revealed that her older daughter Ellie is currently expecting her first child, news she shared with Couric in a fun and unique way inspired by Taylor Swift.
"Been dying to tell you. This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, 'Don’t worry, we made one for you!'" wrote Couric alongside a video of the big surprise.
In the clip, Couric's other daughter Caroline hands her mother a handmade friendship bracelet—just like the ones fans make and exchange at Swift's concerts—with the 66-year-old trying to read what it says.
While it takes her a second, she eventually realizes that it says "Granny 2 Be," and the shock on her face makes it a moment to remember.
Couric further joked in the caption, "needmy??," as she initially misread the bracelet, saying, "Brand, brandy, brandy, B..." before finally noting that it says "Granny."
Deborah Roberts wrote in the comments, "Congratulations ????," as Helena Christensen added, "Yesss granmamacita ??????."
The grandmother-to-be also wrote about the new stage of her life on Kate Couric Media, saying, "A grandmother! I have to be honest, at first I had mixed feelings...But my trepidation was quickly replaced by excitement — and confirmed by my friends who have already embraced their grand status, and shared some words of wisdom."
A few great phrases from her friends included, “It’s all the fun and none of the work!” and, “You get to give them back!”
This will be Couric's first grandchild, and the media mogul also shared that Ellie is due on March 23. Ellie tied the knot with husband Mark Dobrosky in 2021.
