Katie Couric Opened Up About Jennifer Aniston's Performance on The Morning Show
Even though Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon's The Morning Show premiered in November 2019, former Today Show host Katie Couric is only now speaking up about it for the first time.
In the Apple+ show, Aniston plays a fictional character who is rumored to be based on Couric. The plot is even similar to a real-life scenario in which the male co-host (played by Steve Carell) is accused of sexual misconduct – in the same way that Couric's former co-host Matt Lauer was.
Break the story before it breaks you. #TheMorningShow stars Jennifer Aniston, @ReeseW and @SteveCarell in a high-stakes drama that pulls back the curtain on the morning news.

Well, if you were curious about what Couric thought about the themes of her life being played out on TV, we finally have our answer. On the podcast, “Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino," Couric said she watched the show and had "so many thoughts. "I thought some of it was really interesting," she explained. "I think the long-term impact and the serious devastation that results from certain behaviors was quite well represented, or quite well conveyed in that.”
She went on to discuss Aniston's performance specifically noting that she appreciated Aniston but thought the character was off. "I think Jennifer Aniston is great. … I wish they had made her more charismatic because I think you need a certain ebullience to pull off a show like that,” she said.
Though Couric may not have fallen in love with the character, Aniston went on to win a Critics Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for the role.
