Katherine Langford Serves Ariana Grande Realness at The MTV Movie Awards
The MTV Movie Awards are not necessarily a runway show. Rather than showing up in the chicest dresses they can find, actresses and musicians alike tend to go for more of the “wow” factor: What can I wear that will get me the most Instagram comments? The most attention? After all, this MTV, not The Met.
But once in a while, someone will come along and pull out a real look that reminds us that the red carpet, no matter what the event is, is for Fashion (with a capital “F”) and tonight, that someone is Katherine Langford.
Langford, who is nominated for Best Performance in a Show for her role as Hannah in 13 Reasons Why, arrived to the carpet wearing a custom Armani black jumpsuit with a velvet overskirt (of sorts) and a big black bow that would rival anything either Ariana Grande or Helena Bonham Carter have ever worn, yet touches on both women's personal aesthetics.
"We have been working with Armani for a few months on this custom look," says Molly Dickson, Langford's stylist. "We were inspired by their runway look and had the idea of switching it from a gown to a pant look to make it a bit more youthful. The tulle bow in the hair really completes the look and show's Katherine's cool, strong personality."
Dickson has encouraged the actress to embrace luxury designers, like Givenchy and Prada, but has also become an expert at pairing Langford with both contemporary brands (she wore a fabulous A.L.C. dress to a press event for 13 Reasons Why) and Markarian.
