She may be heavily pregnant, but Kate Middleton won’t be putting her feet up any time soon. In fact, she has a new work role.
It has been announced that the 36-year-old royal has become patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a role previously held by the Queen Mother.
The Duchess of Cambridge will also lead the Nursing Now 2020 campaign, which aims to raise the profile of nursing as a career, improve the lives of women, and strengthen local economies.
On a visit to a gynecology center in London, Middleton, who is expecting her third child in April, looked effortlessly stylish in a collar-less blue coat from Jenny Packham as she chatted with Lesley Regan, the president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Teaming her bespoke coat with a pair of navy suede Jimmy Choo pumps, a stunning tanzanite pendant and matching earrings from G. Collins & Sons, and a Stuart Weitzman clutch, the soon-to-be mom-of-three once again showed she is the queen of the maternity wardrobe.
Middleton’s signature bouncy-blow dry finished the perfectly polished look.
Her visit came just hours after the announcement of her new patronage, her 16th in total. During the solo engagement, the Duchess learned about the RCOG’s Center for Women’s Global Health, which aims to reduce maternal and newborn fatalities.
She also took part in a discussion on tackling the stigma around women’s health, in particular, maternal mental health, a subject which is close to her heart and on which she has spoken in the past.
“I am absolutely thrilled that the Duchess of Cambridge has graciously accepted our invitation to become the RCOG’s second patron, after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother,” said RCOG president Lesley Regan.
“We are very grateful to Her Royal Highness, whose support will help to raise our profile as a medical charity that champions the provision of high-quality women’s health care at home and beyond. We know that maternal health and mental wellbeing is an issue close to the Duchess’s heart, as a young mother herself.”
