Kate Middleton Previews Her Coronation Outfit: "There Is a Hint of Blue"
The royal family is getting ready for their biggest event of 2023: the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla. With just days to go, many are wondering what the royals are going to wear—and more specifically, what Kate Middleton will be sporting at the historic event.
During the Prince and Princess of Wales's visit to Birmingham, Alison Hammond asked Kate what she plans to wear for the coronation, "I said to her, 'I'm feeling like you're gonna wear blue.'" Kate's reply: "There is a hint of blue."
Blue is one of Kate's favorite colors—she wore a blue dress to announce her engagement to Prince William—and notably, in recent months, she has gravitated towards the hue for major royal moments. At Easter services, St. Patrick's Day, and the Commonwealth Day Service, she wore different shades of blue:
The Wales family often turns to blue as a unifying color during major moments, so it makes sense that whatever the Princess of Wales wears to the coronation will include the shade. And, whenever she wears blue, it automatically matches with her sapphire engagement ring.
However, the main question royal watchers have regarding Kate's ensemble is whether or not she will wear a tiara to the event. During her time as a royal, she's worn just three tiaras—the Cartier Halo Tiara, the Lotus Flower Tiara, and the Lover's Knot Tiara. She could forgo a tiara entirely, wear a coronet (a small crown), as has been tradition at coronations, or simply wear a hat or fascinator.
We'll just have to wait until May 6 to find out!
