Kate Middleton Just Wore the Dress Brand Every Celebrity Secretly Owns
Before JVN became a household name there was HVN. They’re completely different people who spark joy for completely different reasons. And while everybody who doesn’t live under a rock knows the grooming expert from Netflix’s Queer Eye, not everyone knows of the unrelated dress brand and designer HVN. Their commonality, aside from the similarities in their catchy abbreviations, involves making people look gorgeous, except the latter does so in the form of vintage-style dresses instead of a full makeover.
HVN is designed by Harley Viera-Newton, a DJ turned designer who started her line in 2016. She wanted to recreate the vintage dresses that took hours of thrifting to source and which made up the majority of her closet. Shortly after launching, HVN dresses were all over Instagram. If you remember seeing a cherry-print tea frock all over your feed a couple years ago, there is nearly a 100 percent chance it was by HVN. Viera-Newton’s dresses have essentially been the unofficial cool-girl uniform for summer year after year. In that sense they’re practically royalty, which is fitting considering Kate Middleton herself is even a fan.

While on a video call last week, Middleton wore HVN’s green Maria tennis-print shirt dress. That same day, Dakota Fanning wore the HVN long blue tiger Maria dress on her Instagram story. Earlier that week, Kacey Musgraves wore a floral HVN dress to her sister’s babyshower and Mandy Moore wore a cherry print HVN dress on Live With Ryan and Kelly. Ana de Armas has added multiple HVN dresses into her wardrobe rotation for her daily Ben Affleck walks.

Although HVN is known by every It girl on Instagram, it’s clearly becoming more popular with the Hollywood and Royal set as well, albeit somewhat quietly. Essentially, HVN is secretly the brand everyone keeps wearing. Considering the dresses really do look like one-of-a-kind vintage gems, it’s not shocking most people would spot one and assume it came from a Parisian thrift store instead of MatchesFashion or Net-A-Porter. Fittingly, the dresses are also priced like irreplaceable Parisian treasures, although thankfully most are on sale right now for a reasonable price. Can you believe?
