Kate Hudson Thinks Andie in 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' Would Be "Married" & "Miserable"
Kate Hudson opened up about her How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days character, Andie Anderson, in a new interview with ELLE.
Hudson revealed that she thinks Andie would be "married with kids" now but "probably miserable" with Ben, played by Matthew McConaughey.
The actress also opened up about the "old school Hollywood process of making movies."
Fans of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days might be a little surprised by where leading lady Kate Hudson thinks her character would be now.
In the classic romantic comedy, which was released in 2003, Hudson played Andie Anderson, an ambitious journalist who falls in love with a macho advertising executive named Benjamin "Ben" Barry, played by Matthew McConaughey.
Opening up to ELLE about the unforgettable film, Hudson revealed, "I've always thought about what Matthew and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together. It's actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it. We probably would have gotten married with kids. We're probably miserable right now!"
However, when it comes to Andie's professional life, Hudson is certain that Andie would be thriving. "But I think Andie Anderson is ambitious, and she was wanting to go places, and she was sort of stuck in this job," Hudson explained. "I loved what we created with that movie. And she found love that would support her ambitions. Andie would probably be running something at this point."
Understandably, fans of the rom-com would likely love a sequel starring Hudson and McConaughey, whose chemistry is undeniable on-screen. No word on that for sure, but Hudson did regale the publication with details about making the original, sharing that Hollywood has changed so much since then.
"It was a very different time of making movies," Hudson told ELLE. "People like me and Matthew, I feel like we were the last class of actors that really experienced the old school Hollywood process of making movies. It was a special time. Like Matthew and I, we were together for four months on How to Lose a Guy, and then Fool's Gold, it was a six month shoot. We don't really have any movies like that anymore, unless it's a Marvel movie or something."
