The Kardashians Finally Realized We're in a Pandemic and Canceled Their Christmas Eve Party
Last month, Khloé Kardashian announced the her family's annual Christmas Eve party was still on, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Khloé received a lot of backlash for that decision.
Now, she has revealed that they have decided to cancel the party this year.
For the first time in 42 years, the Kardashians will not be holding their annual Christmas Eve party. Khloé Kardashian announced the news on Sunday night on Twitter.
A fan asked Khloé, who was supposed to host the party this year, if she was still throwing it. "The Covid cases are getting out of control in [California]," she responded. "So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year. It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe. Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must."

This announcement comes after the 36-year-old tweeted last month that she was praying the party would still be on, though it would have to be smaller than usually. "We’re definitely celebrating Christmas!" she wrote at the time. "It will just have to be small and safe. Maybe do rapid testing before. We have to think of what is safest."
I pray not! I think it will have to be way smaller obviously. And I’m totally fine with that! But we’re definitely celebrating Christmas! It will just have to be small and safe. Maybe do rapid testing before ?? We have to think of what is safest

The Kardashians faced a lot of backlash after Khloé's original tweet, so it's not surprising that they regrouped and decided to cancel the party as a result. It seems like the famous fam is finally acknowledging the virus as cases in LA county continue to surge, with over 10,000 cases getting reported on Sunday alone. But the pandemic has been going on for nine months, and LA has remained one of the worst counties in America through it all. Despite that, the Kardashians have continually gone about their normal lives, going to a private island for Kim's birthday and throwing a big party for Kendall's. While it's nice that they decided to cancel this specific event, it begs the question of why it took the Kardashians so long to get on board with "taking this pandemic seriously."
