Kansas City Is Honoring One of Taylor Swift’s Dancers in a Special Way
Taylor Swift performs onstage during night two of the Eras Tour at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on July 8, 2023, in Kansas City, Mo.
The home of Travis Kelce’s NFL team is giving a special nod to one of the dancers who performs regularly with his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift.
Kameron Saunders is a Missouri native and dancer on Swift’s Eras Tour honored with an official day of recognition on Thursday, Jan. 25, for his contributions to the performing arts.
Saunders himself announced the news in an excited post on Instagram.
“As of today, January 25th will FOREVERMORE be known as the ‘Kameron Saunders Day of Dance’ in Kansas City!!!!!!!!!!” Saunders’ post said. He shared several snapshots from the day, including the official signed declaration and photos he took with local government officials.
Saunders went on to thank Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, City Councilman Eric Bunch and Bunch’s executive aide, Marissa Iden, for the roles they played in his special day.
“Forever etched into the legislation of Kansas City’s history!” Saunders’ post continued. “So massive! I can’t begin to express my gratitude!”
In a separate post on Instagram, Bunch also shared photos he took with Saunders and reminisced about the “incredible honor” of making the Kameron Saunders Day of Dance a reality for the “incredibly talented” performer.
“Kameron is a fierce advocate for broader representation and inclusion within the performing arts industry and I was incredibly honored to recognize him with his very own special day!” Bunch wrote.
In addition to performing with Swift’s dance crew, Saunders has danced with Lizzo and was in the 2023 movie musical The Color Purple. He first announced he would be one of 15 dancers touring with Swift’s The Eras Tour in March 2023.
