Kacey Musgraves Shares Terrifying Moment During Music Video Shoot in Iceland
Kacey Musgraves recently offered insight about her music video for "Deeper Well"—along with how she almost almost fell off a cliff while shooting it.
On Thursday, March 14, the eve of her album Deeper Well's release, Musgraves recounted the harrowing tale during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
"It's like another planet. It's amazing," the country singer told Jimmy Fallon of shooting the video in Iceland. "It's like if the movie Dune was very green. It's like that. It's kinda sci-fi but very earthy."
Although Iceland was gorgeous, Musgraves shared that they "picked literally the worst possible week to go" because of the weather. "I was so excited, it was on my bucket list," she told Fallon "It was like high wind advisory. I almost got blown off the cliff."
Musgraves joked: "I was like, 'This video will be my death announcement,' because it was a sheer drop to the ocean. I mean, it was treacherous. And even the locals were like, 'This is some scary s---.'"
If nearly getting blown off a cliff wasn't enough, she also had a less-than-ideal steam cave experience at Blue Lagoon. Fallon shared a clip of Musgraves and her crew fighting against the waves and wind during the bucket-list activity.
Musgraves said she also tried and failed to see the Northern lights while in Iceland. Although she and one of her managers, Bobby, went driving late at night in an attempt to see the natural wonder, they only (maybe) spotted a hint of the lights after hours of searching.
However, they did leave with a souvenir via mail weeks later: a speeding ticket from Iceland.
"Iceland, like it delivered, but it also didn't at the same time," Musgraves concluded.
