Justin Bieber’s Jeweler Speaks Out About Hailey Baldwin’s Engagement Ring
Straight from the source himself. When Justin Bieber popped the question to Hailey Baldwin last weekend, he came prepared with a ring rivaling his devotion to the model.
While contemplating ring designers, BIeber’s longtime manager Scooter Braun directed the pop superstar to his jeweler Jack Solow of Solow & Co. Inc. Diamond Jewelers. Thankfully, the two went way back to the “Sorry” hitmaker’s breakout years.
“I was very genuinely excited for him,” Solow told E! News on Thursday, July 12. “And I had heard that he was with somebody very, very special and that they had bonded over personal things and I was just very, very happy like I would be for any young man who’s on that next stop of his life.”
While most were shocked by the sudden decision, Solow said he noticed Bieber’s quiet confidence in his desire to propose. “I had a sense that he was very, very ready for this decision,” the jeweler noted.
So enamored with Baldwin, in fact, that Bieber was proactive in the ring design process and he was rather specific about the shape itself. “Justin had a big hand in it,” Solow added. “He had certain design elements that he wanted and he had certain expectations and I think we delivered.”
The biggest facet of the ring itself? “It was about the diamond,” Solow mused. “I think he knew very well what Hailey wanted in a ring, but he wanted it very much to be about a very special diamond. He left it in my hands to try and select the most beautiful diamond for someone like Hailey.”
Solow, in fact, sourced a diamond so perfect for Baldwin that it maybe even resembled her a bit? Bieber stopped by to see the stone up close, and while he found it “gorgeous,” he also added another hilarious comment. “There was one moment when he looked into the diamond and I said, ‘What do you see inside that diamond?’” the jeweler recalled. “He goes, ‘I think I see Hailey’s face,’ so that was kind of cute.”
Years ago, Baldwin voiced her approval of Blake Lively’s oval-shape stone from Ryan Reynolds. Bieber contemplated both cushion and oval cuts, and was resolute about incorporating yellow gold. “My guess is that it was important to Hailey,” Solow added of the metal.
When it comes to the overall product itself, the recipient wholeheartedly approves; in fact, she “really loves” the piece. Solow, in support of the engagement, also reacted with a sweet gesture of his own, making a $5,000 donation to Baldwin’s selected charity, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Fund.
The couple has since stopped by Pristine Jewelers to get the piece resized and to pick up several additional items. They are already in the wedding planning process.
