We just found out the official start date for Netflix's new price increase

Re-watching Gilmore Girls for the zillionth time just got a bit more expensive, because Netflix announced a price increase on its three streaming plans for both new and existing customers in the United States.

The streaming platform’s basic plan, which allows you to watch content on one screen, will go from $7.99 to $8.99 per month. The 2S plan, which allows two screens to stream at the same time in HD, will increase by $2—$10.99 to $12.99 per month. Additionally, Netflix’s Premium subscription, a family plan that allows four screens to stream in Ultra HD 4K format, will see a $2 increase as well—going from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.

The price increase went into effect immediately for new members back in January, and it will officially go into effect for existing members on your next bill—as of April 3nd, 2019.

This is the second major price increase in recent years, with the last one occurring in November 2017.

Welp, while we hate seeing our—or our parents’—bill go up, access to incredible new content is definitely worth it. Like the upcoming third season of Stranger Things, which hits Netflix this summer. Here’s hoping the price changes also allow the streaming giant to purchase the rights to old favorites like Friday Night Lights as well.
