Jordan Peele Isn't The Only Creative On Hideo Kojima's New Game
Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele at The Game Awards
At The Game Awards last week, despite being expected to reveal more information about the upcoming Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima threw us a curveball. The video game director revealed a new project, called OD, which is said to be an all-new kind of entertainment, part film and part video game.
During the announcement, legendary horror director Jordan Peele took to the stage to reveal that he would be working on the project too, which was said to be a horror game featuring Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer. Peele, who worked on the critically acclaimed Get Out, Us, and Nope, described his role as a collaborator, saying he was excited to work with Kojima on something entirely new.
But as it happens, Jordan Peele won’t be the only big name to work on the project. Hideo Kojima revealed on Twitter that OD will be a collaboration between multiple “creative storytellers,” saying he’s spent years tracking down the right people to work on it.
“In addition to Jordan Peele, I will be working with a variety of creative storytellers on the OD Project,” Kojima said on Twitter, “Over the past few years, I have traveled the world like Takashi Shimura in search of the ‘Seven Samurai’.”

Seven Samurai is a 1954 Japanese film in which wisened samurai Kambei Shimada – portrayed by Takashi Shimura – who gathers a collection of legendary samurai to help protect a village from bandits. It’s considered one of the greatest films of all time, and it’s no surprise that Kojima, a huge film buff, is mentioning it here.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Death Stranding would be coming to the iPhone 15 Pro, alongside games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 4 Remake. It comes during a big push into native gaming for Apple, which promises even more console-level experiences on its phones in the coming months and years.
Death Stranding 2 was announced earlier this year, but isn’t expected to launch until at least late 2024 or 2025. OD Project does not have a release window.
