John and Annie Glenn and Zane Grey museums schedule activities for family and students
NEW CONCORD – The John and Annie Glenn Museum and the National Road and Zane Grey Museum are preparing for opening day on May 1.
Volunteers are being sought to be docents or period actors.
Zane Grey Family Day will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 at the National Road and Zane Grey Museum, 8850 East Pike, Norwich. The event will feature a prize wheel, face painting by cheerleaders from John Glenn High School, games for kids, outdoor cooking, vendor fair and music by the Wayfarers. A naturalist from the Senecaville Fish Hatchery will also be on hand with local species of fish and information. Food trucks featured will be Inside Out BBQ, Brothers Treats and Mix-It-Up Lemonade. A vintage baseball game at 2 p.m. will pit the Ohio Village Muffins against the Zane Greys. Museum tours are free.
Spots will be available in the museum's parking lot for community members to set up for the National Road Yard Sale from May 30 to June 4. Spots are free, but applications are required.
Space Days will be held in July at the John and Annie Glenn Museum, 72, W. Main St., New Concord. The science, technology, engineer and math campy will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Students ages 8 to 9 is July 15 and ages 10 to 12 is July 16. Students will spend the day conducting science experiments and learning how these fields of study impact the world. There will be a pizza lunch provided by Wally’s Pizza and a book will be given to each student compliments of Park National Bank. Registration is required and there is a $20 fee per student.
