Joan Smalls Had an Extensions Blunder After the Victoria's Secret Show
After the Victoria’s Secret show, the models paraded to after parties to eat pizza, but Joan Smalls was held up. She was so eager to get her hair extensions out while leaving the show that she decided to take them off in the car, but they didn’t seem to want to leave her. Joan had a issue with one clingy extension, which stuck to her leg as she left her car. “What’s going on hair?” Joan joked on Instagram. “When it’s too late to realize something isn’t part of your look ???????????? Never rip them out in the car ????.”
In the cold winter months, some of us deal with annoying static that makes our hair stick to our clothes and stand on end. Extensions are particularly prone to this. Synthetic hair easily holds electric charge, and even human hair extensions are chemically treated, stripping the hair of its outer layer or cuticle, which protects it from static.
Static is the result of dry hair, so if you’re having trouble with clingy hair, be sure to keep hydrated. Drink lots of water and switch out your shampoo and conditioner for moisturizing versions, also incorporating masks and leave-in conditioners into your routine to maintain moisture throughout the day. Those with static in their extensions can also benefit from defrizzing serums, which can mimic the protective outer layer of the hair. But, if you’re dealing with a last-minute clingy situation like Joan, dampen your hands with water, rub them together, and run your palms over your extensions, without actually touching the hair, as a quick fix to manage static.
