Jil Sander RTW Fall 2021
Lucie and Luke Meier strongly believe in the power of clothes. They think that dresses enable individuals to express and empower themselves. In the uncertainty we are living, they also think that fashion can provide the optimism we all need to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
As a reflection of this vision, the designers unveiled a beautiful fall collection, filled with colors, patterns and a new positive energy.

The pristine silhouettes of suits — including a light pistachio one worn with a stunning plastron-like necklace featuring a cascade of irregular natural pearls — coats, crafted from lilac wool or cardamom soft leather, and minimal knitted bodysuits worn with skirts were counterbalanced by bolder shapes. They gave a distinctive, fierce attitude to a maxi skirt showing a horizontal black and blue striped motif, roomy shirt dresses and mixed media frocks with knitted elasticated waistbands. A maxi black and white butterfly allover print found a place next to vivacious floral embroideries punctuating a shirt and a pair of pants.
The sheer surfaces of a top and a skirt, trimmed in chenille, were juxtaposed with the cozy tactility of felted alpaca jackets, knitted ponchos and asymmetric tops with delicate embroideries.
The collection’s upscale craftsmanship also defined the sensual slip dresses, their ’90s minimalism warmed up by the sophisticated lace inserts, while a Bauhaus-inspired motif was rendered in a variety of techniques, including the intricate embroideries of a sleeveless slightly flared dress worn over fluid pants and a tank top.
The controlled and intellectual boldness the Meiers injected into the collection also influenced the accessories, which included boots enriched with bejeweled details, mini bags made of metallic marbles and jewelry designs ranging from chunky enamel chains to graphic maxi earrings.
With this collection, the designers revealed new nuances — more playful and eccentric — of their sophisticated aesthetic, one that Jil Sander’s new owner, Renzo Rosso’s OTB, won’t hesitate to leverage to grow the business.
