Jessica Biel Is the Latest Star to Take on the Role of a Real-Life Killer in Hulu's ‘Candy’

Only a few weeks back, we saw Renée Zellweger transform in the first trailer for NBC's The Thing About Pam , a limited series that tells the story of Pamela Hupp, a woman who murdered her co-worker in 2011 and pinned the crime on her victim's husband. Now, it looks like another major actress is taking on the role of a real-life killer.

Jessica Biel is starring in a new five-part series for Hulu, titled Candy. In the limited series, Biel portrays Candy Montgomery, a housewife from the 1980s who murdered a local elementary school teacher, Betty Gore, after being confronted by Gore about her affair with her husband.

Only a couple days back, Hulu gave the first peek at the series (which premieres on May 9) and we can finally see Biel's transformation into the role of Montgomery. Along with the clip, Hulu offered a description that said, “Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. With deadly results.”

In addition to starring in the show, Biel also acted as an executive producer. Alongside Biel, Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) takes on the role of Betty Gore, and the two leads are joined by other stars like Timothy Simons (Veep), Pablo Schreiber (The Wire) and Raúl Esparza (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

Candy, which has been described by Hulu as a “five-night event,” will have its episodes released daily, from May 9 to May 13.

You can certainly consider us intrigued. Add this to our list of thrillers we will be checking out.
