Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Are Officially Engaged (Again!)
Jennifer Lopez’s team confirmed huge news late Friday night: The A-lister is engaged to Ben Affleck! Again!! J.Lo’s rep confirmed the news to People right before Jen commented on the update in her On the JLo newsletter. The newsletter included a vid of the star admiring her giant green ring from Ben, saying, “You’re perfect.”
As any Bennifer fan knows well, this is actually the pair’s second engagement. They were previously engaged back in the early aughts but rekindled their romance last May, and clearly things are going well.
“We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things,” J.Lo recently told People about life now with Ben. “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other. We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions.”
For his part, Ben is cautious about what he shares about his private life, but the joy of getting a second chance with J.Lo is certainly there.
“You can write conjecture about it, but one of the harder lessons that I have learned is that it’s not wise to share everything with the world,” Ben told WSJ. magazine back in December. “There are some things which are private and intimate and have meaning in terms of their intimacy by dint of the fact that they’re not shared with the rest of the world.”
“I can say that it’s definitely beautiful to me,” he later added about the relationship. “And, you know, one of the things I really value across all facets of my life now is that it was handled in a way that reflected that. My life now reflects not just the person that I want to be, but the person that I really feel like I am—which is not perfect but somebody who tries very hard and cares very much about being honest and authentic and accountable. It’s hard to say who benefits more, without going into gossipy detail. I could just say that I feel great about being very healthy. And it is a good story. It’s a great story. And, you know, maybe one day I’ll tell it. I’ll write it all out…and then I’ll light it on fire. [Laughs.]”
Fire or not, it *is* a great love story. Congrats to the couple!
