Jennifer Aniston Makes Candid Confession About Filming Steamy Scenes With Jon Hamm
Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm
Jennifer Aniston opened up about filming intimate scenes with Jon Hamm for the third season of The Morning Show, and what she had to say about the experience may surprise you, considering just how "seasoned" the two actors are.
While speaking with Variety in an interview published on Monday, Dec. 11, Aniston revealed that the two worked with an intimacy coordinator–or a member of the crew who advocates for and ensures the well-being of actors participating in sex scenes and other vulnerable production moments–while filming the steamy scenes that played out between their characters Alex Levy and Paul Marks.
Having the coordinator, Mimi Leder, on set was a first for Aniston, 54, and although she called Hamm, 52, a "gentleman" through it all, she seemed grateful for Leder's presence.
"They asked us if we wanted an intimacy coordinator. I’m from the olden days, so I was like, 'What does that mean?'" Aniston joked. "They said, 'Where someone asks you if you’re OK,' and I’m like, 'Please, this is awkward enough!' We’re seasoned — we can figure this one out. And we had Mimi there."
Speaking on Leder's role in the most current season, Aniston said she felt "protected," and while it may have been an awkward adjustment for her at first, she seemed much happier knowing she had a little extra support if she needed it.
"Having Mimi there, you’re protected. I never felt uncomfortable," she said. "Jon was such a gentleman, always — I mean every move, every cut, 'You OK?'"
"It was also very choreographed," she went on, "That’s the beauty of Mimi and our gorgeous editor, the music and lighting. So, you don’t prepare."
Though Aniston suggested she didn't have much to "prepare" for regarding the intimate scenes, getting ready to film requires a lot of thinking ahead–as both she and her co-star Reese Witherspoon, who was also present for the interview, admitted that they're already looking ahead to where the final installment of the Apple TV+ series could go.
"We’ve always thought this world is so rich that you can find new characters, stories and new TV personalities, people who have emerged in the zeitgeist," Witherspoon said of the endless possibilities surrounding Season 4 of the drama.
To catch up on Alex and Paul's love story–and everything else that's happened thus far–Seasons 1 through 3 of The Morning Show are currently streaming exclusively via Apple TV+.
