Is Jellybean the Gargoyle King’s Latest Victim on ‘Riverdale’?
Last night’s episode of Riverdale teased a dark future for one of the show’s (literally) smallest characters, Jellybean Jones (Trinity Likins).
Here’s what you need to know: On Chapter Fifty-Three of The CW series, titled “Jawbreaker,” Jellybean makes the amateur mistake of befriending Ricky (Nico Bustamante). You probably remember him as the young boy who scammed Archie (KJ Apa) back in Chapter Forty-Nine. (You know, when he pretended to be Joaquin’s brother and then tried to kill the “Red Paladin”—aka Archie.)
At the end of this week’s installment, FP (Skeet Ulrich) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) are questioning Kurtz (Jonathan Whitesell) at the police station for working with the Gargoyle King. When Kurtz reveals that Baby Teeth’s (Connor Paton) death is only the beginning, Jughead soon realizes that Jellybean is unprotected.
Cut to Ricky leading Jellybean into the woods before introducing her to the Gargoyle King.
So, is JB the monster’s latest victim? While it’s hard to tell, we don’t think it’s that simple. Sure, it would be easy for the Gargoyle King to devour Jellybean on the spot, but then what? Her story line ends?
The answer is unclear, but we think there’s far more to the scene than the episode let on. For example, this could open a new door for Jellybean to work for the Gargoyle King, since he has spies just about everywhere.
Of course, this would be a problem for Jughead and FP, who made it their mission to track down the monster and his accomplices. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise. Not only is her mom, Gladys (Gina Gershon), a secret drug dealer, but JB also has insider access to every member of the Jones family. Dun dun dun.
Regardless of the outcome, she didn’t deserve any of this. Riverdale returns to The CW next Wednesday, April 24, at 8 p.m.
