Jehovah's Witnesses to hold convention in Coraopolis
CORAOPOLIS, Pa. – Jehovah’s Witnesses will not hold a convention in Johnstown this year, but organizers are inviting regional residents to a series of conventions at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Coraopolis, Allegheny County, continuing Friday.
The “Declare the Good News” meetings began at the end of May and will now take place Friday through Sunday, July 19 to 21, July 26 to 28 and Aug. 9 to 11.
The free conventions are open from 9:20 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 9:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sundays.
“We are happy to have thousands from the local area and from our state gather for this uplifting event,” Jehovah’s Witnesses spokesman Matthew Welch said in a release.
“The convention will focus on the encouraging and heartening good news found in the Bible, which can truly bring positivity into our lives.”
A highlight of the events are showings of “The Good News According to Jesus,” an 18-episode examination of Jesus’ life and ministry at the 1630 Spring Run Road Extension location.
“After years of planning and set construction, we are very happy to release this to the public,” Welch said.
“We truly believe this vivid series will be a powerful educational resource, but even more importantly, touch the hearts of millions.”
The series began production in 2022 at the national Jehovah’s Witnesses headquarters in Australia, and was completed with more than 500 volunteers in a more than 75,000-square-foot facility of sets.
Some scenes were also shot in Israel.
Additional convention features include Bible-based videos, conversations and interviews on the topics of “Use the Good News to Defeat Bad News,” “Imitate Those Who had Faith in the Good News” and “Why Do We Need Good News?”
