How Jana Kramer's Ex Mike Caussin Responded to Her Engagement

Jana Kramer shared her ex-husband Mike Caussin's reaction to finding out about her engagement to Allan Russell.

On the May 25 episode of her podcast Whine Down, the multi-hyphenate shared that her seven-year-old daughter Jolie broke the news of her mom's engagement to her dad.

"Jolie was FaceTiming him and she's like, 'Guess what, Daddy? Mommy's engaged!' And he's like, 'Aw, that's nice,'" said Kramer. "I would have liked to have told him, but I also don't want Jolie to have to keep secrets from her dad. Then, he was like, 'Can I talk to Mommy' so I got on the phone."

Kramer shared that when she got on the phone with Caussin, he had kind words to say about her upcoming marriage. "He was like, 'Hey, I'm really happy for you because Allan's a great guy' and I was like 'Thank you.' I started to cry because he goes, 'Of all people, you deserve to have someone that loves you and respects you. After everything I put you through, you deserve this more than anyone,'" recalled the "I Got the Boy" singer.

"It meant so much that he said that," she added.

The former couple filed for divorce in 2021 after being married for six years due to Caussin's infidelity.

The One Tree Hill alum also shared that she had a conversation with Caussin before the engagement about the potential of marrying Russell.

"[Caussin] was asking, 'All right, do you think this is [the one]? I was like, 'Yeah, I think we'll get married one day but I don't think…like I don't need to have [a marriage right now]," she said. Kramer also said her ex is friendly with Russell and they have hung out.

A day after the episode came out, Kramer released a second part, featuring Russell speaking about the engagement. The Scottish soccer player-turned-coach shared that he knew he was going to marry Kramer from the moment he met her. The couple explained that they'd met after Russell DM'd her on Instagram. According to Russell, Kramer's face popped up. "I think [the DM] was very respectful. It was along the lines of, 'You look like an amazing person and a great mom and it'd be good to connect,'" said Russell.
