Iowa Ornithologists' Union to hold spring meeting in Clinton

Apr. 24—The Iowa Ornithologists' Union's Spring Meeting will be May 3-5 at Eagle Point Park in Clinton. This event will be a gathering of bird enthusiasts, researchers, and conservationists from across the state, coming together to celebrate the rich diversity of avian life in Iowa.

The Spring Meeting will feature a diverse array of activities and presentations aimed at both seasoned birders and newcomers alike. Attendees can look forward to:

Keynote Address: Dr. Gunnar Kramer from Iowa State University will deliver an engaging keynote address about tracking migratory songbirds to inform conservation.

Field Trips: Participants will have the opportunity to explore some of Iowa's best birding hotspots along the Mississippi River, guided by experienced birdwatchers who will help identify various species and share their insights.

Networking Opportunities: IOU meetings provide the ideal platform for bird enthusiasts to connect! Attendees can exchange stories and sightings as well as get to know many of the other people within the birding community.

"We are excited to bring birders from around the state together in Clinton for our annual Spring Meeting," said Tyler Harms, president of the IOU. "This event is not only a celebration of all things birding in Iowa, but also an opportunity to learn and explore some neat places in the Iowa's Mississippi Valley."
