Inside a $40 Million Townhouse in the Heart of Tribeca
Real estate investor Lucky Bhalla and his wife Laura brought a stunning $40 million home in New York City to market back in 2022, when the suburban mansion-sized Tribeca knockout sparked headlines for its rooftop pool. The lavish spread remains up for grabs in the celeb-loved neighborhood known for its historic commercial buildings and lofts. And though its staggering price tag remains the same, the Reade Street pad comes with refreshing appeal.
Originally a warehouse-style building, the six-story townhouse was realized after its 1910-built structure reached a state of disrepair, Mansion Global reports. The Bhalla’s rebuilt it over several years with architect Gregory Sharp of Case Development; the only remaining parts original to the building are the foundation and side walls. Renovations wrapped up in 2013, leaving behind a limestone-and-brick abode in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most coveted neighborhoods, with four bedrooms and seven baths, plus four powder rooms, spread across almost 10,600 square feet.

Towering over a sunlit sidewalk, the fa?ade’s subtle appearance is accentuated by custom steel windows imported from England. A grand foyer, complete with a spiral staircase and geometric-patterned flooring, welcomes you into the home below a soaring 24-foot ceiling. The nearby chef’s kitchen includes one of the home’s nine fireplaces, along with an oversized Lacanche stove, a breakfast nook, and access to a pint-sized patio. The uplit arched ceiling and the boldly veined counter tops enhance the home’s modernity.
The second floor houses a spacious living room with a street-facing balcony as well as an oval dining room with custom lacquered walls and an adjacent stainless-steel butler’s pantry. The primary suite takes over the entire third floor and incorporates an oversized bedroom with a fireplace, French doors to a Juliet balcony and two walk-in closets. Custom, floor-to-ceiling marble mosaic tile elevates the en-suite bath, which includes another fireplace.
