Husband gives wife cake in the shape of her favorite thing, an Amazon delivery box: 'My husband gets me'
Anyone with an Amazon addiction knows the feeling a brown box on your doorstep brings. One frequent Amazon shopper expects to find a box at least two to three times a week—and her husband has noticed. So, for her birthday, he got her a cake in the shape of something she loves: an Amazon delivery, complete with edible Amazon Prime tape.
Erica McGuire, the recipient of the cake made by Sweet Dreams Bakery in Dunn, North Carolina, said the surprise made her feel truly understood by her husband, Mac.
"In that moment, I knew my husband 'gets me,'" the mother of three told CafeMom.
Mac, who is in the military, doesn't fail to see the humor in his wife's "add to cart" compulsion.
“He just laughs at this point,” Erica told TODAY.
The cake, shared on the Facebook page Kitchen Fun with My 3 Sons, has resonated with fellow Amazon fans and has garnered more than 19,000 shares and 16,000 comments.
"I definitely want this for my Birthday," one woman commented.
"Have to do for moms birthday for sure," one daughter shared. "She [gets] one at least every other day."
"I need this," wrote another woman. "I seriously have a package coming every day this week and two more before the 31st."
The cake itself took Trena Norris, the co-owner of Sweet Dreams Bakery, eight hours to complete and is entirely edible — down to the label and tape, which are made of sugar and wafer paper.
“This was certainly a fun cake to do,” Norris tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “When we received the message from Mac, I was excited because I like to experiment a lot and I knew this one would be fun.”
But the Amazon box request is not the most bizarre order Norris has received.
“Probably the craziest is one of my favorite families that orders from us every year,” she says. “Her son always gives me a good challenge. One year he wanted a possum cake, red velvet inside.”
The viral attention has resulted in a lot of phone calls to the bakery, in hopes that they would be able to ship a delivery box cake inside of a delivery box — very meta. Sadly, at this time, Sweet Dreams Bakery is unable to ship.
“It definitely has been an exciting few days since this went viral,” Norris says. “I’ve always prayed for our business to grow and part of my bucket list is to meet Duff or Cake Boss [Buddy Valastro] so maybe they’ll see this and check us out sometime. A girl can dream!”
Erica did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
