'Human rights lawyer' gets arrested after racist rant on flight: 'If I say, "Boycott f***ing Air India," done'
Police in the U.K. arrested a woman who reportedly was drunk and identified herself as a “human rights lawyer” during an aggressive rant directed at flight attendants on an Air India flight.
The 50-year-old woman, who has yet to be identified, instigated an argument with crew members on Flight AI-131 from Mumbai to London on Saturday after she was denied alcohol. Video of the argument captured by journalist Tarun Shukla was posted onto his Twitter account on Wednesday to bring attention to the behavior of the woman, who also called herself an “international criminal lawyer.”
Irish lady behaves in such an abusive, racist way with @airindiain crew for being refused extra drinks. Very decent AI crew behaviour. Arrested on landing. Wonder if she should have been controlled onboard with handcuffs. @JitiBhargava @Mohan_Rngnathan pic.twitter.com/kSTDmGOEm5

“And you treat business-class passengers like that? Who are international criminal lawyers for the Palestinian people?” the woman asks before turning to one attendant and saying, “I’m working for all your people.”
She goes on to claim that she does her work for free and clarifies that all she’s looking for is a “f***ing glass of wine.” As the crew continues to deny her that service, she threatens them: “If I say ‘boycott’ f***ing Air India,’ done.”
Later in the video, she even begins to ask about the flight’s destination after forgetting that it was headed toward London’s Heathrow Airport. Once the flight landed, the woman was met by the Metropolitan Police.
“At approximately 13:30 hours on Saturday, 10 November, a 50-year-old woman was arrested after an Air India flight had landed at Heathrow Airport,” police told Insider. “She was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order, common assault and drunk and disorderly, and taken to a west London police station.”
Police additionally confirmed that the woman was “released under investigation.” Shukla, however, continued to post video and photos from the incident, including evidence of a bruise on a flight attendant’s arm.
