This New Hotel Was Designed by One of Vera Bradley's Co-Founders
Vera Bradley lovers, rejoice! A new hotel designed by one of the brand’s co-founders is set to open on July 15, with reservations already available (book your stay here!).
Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, The Bradley hotel is a joining of forces between Barbara Baekgaard and Provenance Hotels. All of the 124 rooms at the aptly named spot were designed by Dutch East Design, with furnishings that include upholstered floral headboards, golden arched mirrors, and custom botanical-inspired letterpress prints—the latter of which were done by Julie Wall of The Hedge Studios.
“Dutch East Design was fortunate enough to design both the visual identity and interior design [of The Bradley],” Larah Moravek, a co-founder of Dutch East Design, tells House Beautiful. “We wanted the property to serve as a true reflection of the city as well as the owner's sensibilities, and we used pattern and heritage to guide our design narrative for the hotel.”
Beyond the charming decor of the many rooms at The Bradley—which includes nine suites—there’s also a rooftop bar, where you can fully immerse yourself in the cityscape of Fort Wayne. And if you’re looking for even more Instagram-able decor beyond your room, look no further than the hotel’s area rugs, which are swathed in a peony pattern—an homage to Indiana’s state flower. Another location-specific tribute? The logo of the hotel, which honors the many printmaking companies in Fort Wayne’s history.
Additionally, all of the artwork in The Bradley’s guest rooms was commissioned by local artists, like Theoplis Smith III (AKA Phresh Laundry), who is known for his vibrant murals throughout Fort Wayne and pop culture-inspired artwork. He created scenic nature-inspired paintings for the hotel, while the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University Fort Wayne produced a rotating art gallery.
Suffice it to say, we know where we’ll be booking a stay this summer—and we might even sport one of Vera Bradley’s famous paisley designs upon arrival!
