Up until now, The Crown has been acting like Prince Charles and Princess Anne were Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s only kids, but we were finally introduced to Prince Edward _{and Prince Andrew ughhhhhhh} in season 4—and yikes. The show did not paint the kindest picture! According to The Crown, Edward was super spoiled, money-hungry, bullied yet mean to his fellow students at school, and also pretty stuck-up and elitist. Here’s a direct quote from our guy on the show that basically sums it up: “People will always want me—and what do you expect me to do about that, say no?”

Delightful! Seems like a fun dude! But…what was Prince Edward like in real life? First of all, he could be Prince William’s long-lost twin, if you ask me. And as you’ll see in this here gallery, he spent most of his time serving look after look after look. Edward is also rumored to be one of the Queen’s favorite children, and in recent years, he has managed to avoid scandal—unlike his siblings. As a source told The Express, “Edward has molded into a quiet and efficient figure who does not seek attention or acquire headlines. He and [his wife] Sophie are liked for being dutiful and uncomplaining.”
