Home of the Week: This $53 Million Mykonos Villa Is Perched 300 Feet Above the Aegean Sea
Before celebrity hairstylist Charles Worthington MBE became a hairdresser in the 1980s, he trained to become an architect, which has remained a passion of his since.
The British coiffeur’s 35-year-plus career includes styling the locks of A-listers like Sarah Jessica Parker, Goldie Hawn, Sharon Stone, and Paris Hilton, among others. He also owned several salons and a haircare product line that he sold in 2004. In his free time, Worthington and his partner, Allan Peters, have designed homes throughout the world, including in London, Aspen, and Mykonos. Now, the hairdresser’s stunning Greek getaway on the island of Mykonos, called The Cape, can be yours for $53 million.

“When we arrived at the location for the first time, it literally took our breath away, and we were rendered speechless,” Worthington tells Robb Report. “The Cape is 300 feet up from the sea, so it has real drama—even the birds fly below you.”
The Cape, situated in Houlakia on the northern part of the Greek island, was a labor of love for Worthington and Peters that took nearly 10 years to complete. Set on a clifftop above the Aegean Sea, The Cape spans 1.6 acres and has a sprawling (and impeccably designed) 15,070-square-foot home.
Nearly every room offers dizzying views over the Aegean Sea, the Chora (Old Town), Delos, and other Cycladic islands. Worthington and Peters, who love to entertain, built the home to include eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms (it can accommodate up to 16 guests), as well as space to host over 200 guests for events. Designed with classic Greek architecture, The Cape has a white fa?ade with a bright and airy white interior seen in many Myconian homes.
“The property embraces the Greek aesthetic with white plaster walls and soft, rounded edges—no straight, sharp lines—plus a clever mix of natural stone walls to blend harmoniously with the surrounding rocky cliffs and terrain below,” Worthington says. “The vast interior spaces have a contemporary feel but are always designed with comfort in mind, creating a natural flow throughout the property for easy living.”
The expansive home, carefully notched into the cliffside, has multiple levels and feels like its own private resort. There’s a large, infinity-edge pool, several cabanas, and a massive, covered poolside entertaining space with a full bar. Another sandy outdoor level below, which is referred to as “the Beach,” includes a hot tub, two fire pits, loungers, and a service kitchen.
“The idea was to create a home with different experiences and everything you could possibly want so that you feel there is no need to leave the property,” he says. “There is a large infinity pool which has a visual connection with the sea below and several sunbathing areas, including a beach area we created with golden sand. You can hear the sound of the sea lapping against the rocks below—the perfect area to read your favorite book. The property also has a wonderful flow for intimate dinner parties, but also entertaining on a large scale.”
Inside, the home is filled with natural light. The open-plan living space on the main floor has several seating areas, timber floors, white walls, white timber and oak beamed ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors with easy access to the terraces. It pairs coastal Hamptons elegance with relaxed Myconian style. The bedrooms are spread throughout the home to give guests a sense of privacy, and each has its own terrace. There’s also a large chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, a library, a wine cave, and a gym that offers floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean, a steam room, a hammam, and a spa treatment room.
“Cooking is a passion, so I expanded the kitchen to create an industrial-sized space with a large central island,” he says. “I am also a vociferous reader, so I needed to have my own library room. Meanwhile, the wine cave was created, exposing the rock face as a sculptural feature. Every room has a serious ‘wow’ factor.”
The home has separate staff accommodation, a gated entrance for residents and guests, a service entrance, parking for up to 10 cars, a high-tech security system, a Sonos sound system throughout, and a generator for when foul weather knocks out the electricity. The beach is just a five-minute walk from the villa, and Houlakia is a highly protected archaeological and conservation area for those who love to explore.
“In short, we have created our very own slice of Greek paradise and an oasis of calm and tranquility that would be hard to find similar anywhere else in the world,” he says. “Those last 2 hours of the day are my favorite time, as the heat from the sun becomes gentle and the vivid colors of the Greek sunset are beyond compare.”
The home is being sold fully furnished (excluding artwork) and is listed with Roi Deldimou of Beauchamp Estates.
