Hoda Kotb Has Officially Been Named the Co-Anchor of the 'Today' Show

Hoda Kotb has officially been named the co-anchor of the Today show, NBC announced Tuesday morning. She replaces Matt Lauer, who was fired from the network after being accused of "inappropriate sexual behavior."

Kotb will join co-anchor Savannah Guthrie on the 7 through 9 a.m. hours of the Today show, along with Carson Daly and Al Roker. And she'll keep co-hosting the 10 a.m. hour with Kathie Lee Gifford, so you won't be missing any wine-fueled fun, either.

The announcement was made on Tuesday morning's broadcast. "This has to be the most popular decision NBC News has ever made, and I am so thrilled," Guthrie said. "Hoda, you are a partner, and a friend, and a sister, and I am so happy to be doing this."

"I'm pinching myself," Kotb responded. "I think that we should send some medics to Alexandria, Virginia, where my mom has likely fainted after hearing the open of that show."

Kotb, who is a seasoned journalist with many awards for her reporting, started her career at NBC News as a Dateline corresponded in 1998, and has co-hosted the fourth hour of the Today show with Gifford since 2008. She also hosts The Hoda Show on Sirius XM radio.
