Here's Why Supermodel Gigi Hadid is Paxton Hall-Yoshida's Narrator on "Never Have I Ever"

As if Never Have I Ever season 2 couldn't get any better, we're in for a serious treat with Gigi Hadid as Paxton Hall-Yoshida's narrator. The 26-year-old supermodel tells Paxton's story in the third episode of the season, "Never Have I Ever... Opened a Textbook."
The Netflix series is known for its unique structure and having tennis legend John McEnroe narrate Devi's life. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg even narrated an episode about Devi's nemesis turned almost-boyfriend, Ben, in season 1. So, when season 2 rolled around, I couldn't help but wonder if there would be any more guest narrators.
Sure enough, Miss Gigi was right freakin' there the whole time, and I'm sure you want to know all about how she landed the gig.
How did Gigi become Paxton's narrator?
While fellow model, Chrissy Teigen, was originally supposed to be Paxton's narrator, showrunners made the change to Gigi after Chrissy was under fire for resurfaced tweets about Courtney Stodden.
What tie does Paxton have to Gigi?
From the beginning of the episode, Gigi says that Paxton is a 16-year-old from California and that she was once in his shoes. "Believe it or not, I relate to this kid," she said in her voiceover. "We're both constantly underestimated because people only see us as sex symbols."
Before we knew her as one of the most successful supermodels in the world, Gigi was a volleyball-loving teen who was working toward her dreams while living in LA — just like Paxton.
Gigi's delivery is *chef's kiss*
With a ton of hilarious one-liners, you'd think Gigi's job as a narrator is pretty simple. But it's all about the delivery of the line, which Gigi nails, thank you very much.
Seriously — I'm still thinking of when she dragged Paxton's parents. "Whoa. These hippie Christians have some real low expectations for their kid. Like, lower than Paxton's dad's ponytail," she said. This is the energy I've always wanted to see from Gigi, and thanks to Never Have I Ever, we finally got it.
