Here's where to go for classic and over-the-top milkshakes at the Shore
Sure an ice cream cone on a hot summer day is great, but sometimes a creamy milkshake is the way to go.
Feeling like chocolate or vanilla? We've got you covered.
Something different? A Deep Fried Oreo Shake perhaps? Or maybe you want something outlandish and crave one full of candy, cupcakes and brownies?
Here are some great milkshake spots to check out at the Shore.
Brownstone Pancake Factory, multiple locations
Brownstone Pancake Factory makes more than pancakes: The restaurants are wonderlands, like a breakfast version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. There are carousels, Volkswagen bugs that you can sit and eat in, and stone monkeys hanging from the ceiling.
Every location boasts something special, and their milkshakes are over-the-top. The strawberry Unicorn is packed with goodies like cotton candy, lollipops and a whole cupcake. They also offer "shakes of the week," such as a S'mores Brownie with chocolate drizzle, graham cracker and toasted marshmallow.

Burger 25, multiple locations
All Burger 25 locations at the Shore have milkshakes, but the one in Ship Bottom has a milkshake window that during busy summer weekends has a line wrapped around the building.
Among the many options are the Deep Fried Oreo shake, the Cannoli shake, and the Bomb Pop Shake based on blue raspberry flavored popsicles.

Dale and Dollops, Ocean Grove
Vegans can enjoy an assortment of milkshakes here. There are plenty of classic flavors, like strawberry, chocolate and vanilla, but they also have options like cookies and cream, mint chip and cake batter. Also try specials like the apple pie milkshake, topped with crumble.
The diner also serves plenty of comfort food like chili cheese fries, a tofu scramble breakfast burrito with chipotle cream, a tempeh barbecue sandwich, and macaroni and cheese.

Jersey Freeze, Freehold
This ice cream shop has been standing since 1952, so there's no wonder its one of the busiest at the Shore. While they're known for classic ice cream, they offer plenty of mouthwatering shakes in nearly every flavor.
They also offer special "Milkshakes of the Month." For July, it's Strawberry Shortcake, an extra thick strawberry shake with vanilla cake crunch, whipped cream and a strawberry shortcake bar, and Chocolate Eclair, an extra thick Black and White shake with vanilla and chocolate cake crunch, whipped cream and a Chocolate Eclair.
Go: 120 Manalapan Ave.; 732-462-3008, jerseyfreeze1952.com.
The Loaded Spoon, Freehold Township
People come to The Loaded Spoon for awesome abominations dubbed "loaded milkshakes." Try the Unicornation strawberry milkshake with sprinkles, Munchkins sugar cone, a Fruity Pebble Crispy Treat, whipped cream, rock candy, sour belts, cotton candy and strawberries.
If you're more of a chocolate fiend, try the Brookylnite vanilla or chocolate shake, with chocolate drizzle, fudge brownie, chocolate chunk cookie, whipped cream, Stroopwafels, malt balls, chocolate-dipped marshmallow and chocolate flakes.
Go: 108 Schanck Road; 732-813-8700, loaded-spoon.com.
